"I am not a legend"
By Gord Carruth & Robert Knuckle
The play ran first in Toronto, Canada, for an extended run. It was nominated for a DORA AWARD as best new play, and later won the National ACTRA award for best dramatic writing. It played across Canada, and was then invited to the Edinburgh Festival where it won the Critics’ Commendation. The Nederlander organization in New York offered to produce the play on Broadway. The writers did not accept the offer because the terms were not favourable. The play was subsequently adapted for television, and the rights were sold first in Canada for a nation-wide airing and later to ABC/ESPN for airing across the United States.
The Americian stage premiere of the play was produced by the award-winning theatre company, The Kettle Moraine Players, and completed a successful tour through Wisconsin in October of 2012.
